Human Origins Research is an open access journal affiliated with AAAP. The first three papers have now been published and are available free of charge at the journal's web page.
Being an open access journal, there are modest publication costs
associated with the journal. However, AAAP members, researchers from
developing countries and students receive generous discounts. The
journal has a rapid publication format and all manuscripts are subjected
to peer review (technical evaluations. All authors retain copyright and
get high profile for their work on the web.

| Cancellation of 2012 AAAP Conference and Workshop |
|
Members
of AAAP have overwhelmingly supported a proposal put to them in
December 2011 that the 2012 conference to be held in Kunming be
cancelled.
The recommendation was made after the organising committee met in
Kunming in November. It was felt that the costs of organisation and
travel for delegates would have precluded many members from attending
and would have placed a burden on AAAP and individual members. The
committee was also concerned about environmental damage caused by
delegates travelling.
A
proposal was also put, and overwhelmingly agreed upon, that as an
alternative to a conference, members be invited to submit a short paper
about their research to Human Origins Research, at no cost. A
committee of AAAP members will be formed to manage submissions and to
provide technical reviews of all invited papers. Invitations will be
issued mid-2012 and published early in 2013. This will occur every three
years instead of a conference. While AAAP will not hold formal regular
conferences, members are welcome to organise conferences themselves
under the auspices of AAAP. | |
